"One thing I learned very recently is that one’s cell phone number is not automatically secured. You have to go to the carrier to request a lock. Otherwise it can be ported away from you in a form of identity theft. I had this happen to a client recently. I went to my Verizon app, under privacy and security, and clicked the button to lock the number down."
