Valhalla 37

With the July Fourth holiday coming up next week, we thought it only fitting to spotlight this stunning Valhalla 37 with its patriotic colors.

Meet Miss Sandy, which features a Flag Blue hull and a red boot stripe with a white accent stripe above. “We’ve always loved traditional colors and the classic look they bring to a boat,” says Kurt Kennedy, who owns the V-37 with his wife, Sandy. “I sit on my back deck and it’s hard to believe how many people drive by and say, ‘Oh my god, look at that boat.’ They give me the thumbs up and just rave about it.” (Their 24-foot center console, docked alongside the Valhalla, is also decked out in the same colors.)

Hailing from Ocean City, Miss Sandy will cruise and fish the South Jersey shore. “We’ll run up to Atlantic City, down to Cape May and explore the Delaware Bay,” says Kurt. “We’ll fish for stripers and take an occasional run offshore for tuna.”

She’s certainly rigged and ready for both endeavors, with additional rod holders, a forward refrigerated fish box, under-gunwale rod holders, internally rigged 22-foot outriggers and 12-volt electric teaser reels (mounted in the hardtop underside).

A Seakeeper was a must. The Kennedys also went with a bow thruster, joystick (with station-keeping technology) and a stainless steel (SS) plow anchor deployed through a SS anchor chute. The fold-down transom seats, the Release Marine helm chairs and the forward port and starboard seating were also necessary enhancements. “This past Sunday, we had 14 people on the boat,” says Kurt. “We have a huge family – six children from 19 to 43 years old and 11 grandchildren from 3 to 15.”

“Nobody can believe it’s not real teak,” Kurt says of the faux teak toe rail and transom. “We absolutely love the boat, from the finish work and quality to the customer support and immediate feedback we receive from the factory. Dealing with Valhalla Boatworks and the Healey family has simply been a great experience.”

The underside of the hardtop matches the hull color and pair of 16-inch Simrad displays anchor the helm, which also features a teak helm pod.

“What really impresses me is their ability to bring that same level of attention to detail that Vikings are known for,” says Sandy, adding that the couple were previous owners of a Viking 50. “You can tell a tremendous amount of thought went into the design and building of these Valhallas.”
