Get ready for Fourth of July celebrations! In preparation for the use of fireworks, Clark County Public Health has some reminders to make sure they get properly cleaned up so they don’t pollute our storm drains, streams, rivers, and lakes:

For used fireworks, put them in a bucket with water to soak overnight. Remove them and place them in a garbage bag, then garbage can. For the leftover soaking water, dump it onto grass or another landscape where it won’t flow into a storm drain or waterway. Avoid pouring it onto the pavement or into the street.

For unused fireworks, do not dispose of them in garbage cans or take them to transfer stations. Instead, bring them to a designated drop off site found on the website linked below.
Although sale and use of fireworks is illegal within the Vancouver City limits, Clark County has a website with an interactive map where you can input an address and see the current fireworks regulations. It also has an important message from the Washington State Fire Marshal’s Office, more safety information, and a list of illegal fireworks.
