Lacamas Lake Clean-Up Event

It's time for the annual litter clean up and ivy pull along the shores of Lacamas Lake. Long pants, closed-toed shoes, and weather appropriate clothing recommended. Tools and gloves will be provided; register through the Watershed Alliance of SWWA.

September 30th 9:00am - 12:00pm at Heritage Park, Camas.

Our team will be there with educational materials.

See a bloom or scum along the shores? Stay away from it!

When collecting samples for laboratory analysis, we also collect a sample to analyze under

microscope and identify what genus of cyanobacteria are present - three examples from 2023 are below.

-Odor: earthy and musty

-Typically found at Lacamas & Round Lakes

Dolichospermum

-Produces toxins anatoxin and microcystins

-Odor: earthy, grassy, nasturtium, musty

-Found in all local lakes where blooms occur

Planktothrix
