Report a Suspected Bloom

Vancouver Lake Regional Park Swim Beach 09/11/2023

Low Water at Vancouver Lake

Since the harmful algae bloom Warning Advisory was removed at Vancouver Lake, the Swim Beach Monitoring team does a visual check every week at Vancouver Lake's Regional Park swim beach, flushing channel, and Shillapoo boat launch. We keep a lookout for scum and algae. If we see signs of a bloom then we take a sample for analysis.

No sample was taken this week at Vancouver Lake to test for harmful bacteria (cyanotoxins) from algae. Remember to be algae-aware and when in doubt stay out!

Be aware: Lacamas Lake Drawdown

Mid-September marks the start of the annual Lacamas and Round Lake drawdown. This activity allows for shoreline clean up and necessary dam maintenance at Lacamas & Round Lakes. Unfortunately, the lower water level often triggers a large harmful algal bloom. If you plan on assisting with clean up efforts or visiting the lakes during this time, please be mindful to stay away from the water if a bloom is present.
