There are no current advisories at these lakes. To report a suspected harmful algal bloom or other water quality concern, go here.

WARNING ADVISORY

  • None



During a WARNING advisory:

  • Swimming or water skiing not advised anywhere on lake.
  • Avoid areas of scum when using motorized boats, paddle boarding, kayaking or canoeing.
  • Do not drink lake water.
  • Animals should avoid all water contact.
  • When fishing, clean fish well and discard organs.

DANGER ADVISORY

  • Vancouver Lake (issued 7/23/2025)



During a DANGER advisory, Public Health advises against all recreating in the lake, including swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing, using motorized boats, water skiing, and fishing. 


Conditions are improving at Vancouver Lake and sampling will continue on a weekly basis.

Next Sampling Dates

  • E.coli (bacteria): August 4th
  • Harmful Algae (cyanobacteria): August 4th

Farewell Mathena!

The recreational water safety NEPHIP summer intern Mathena is headed back to New York to continue their studies in Environmental Health. Mathena worked on multiple projects this summer including swim beach sanitary surveys, veterinarian outreach, community education, creating content for this newsletter, and completing over 80 site visits for swim beach water quality sample collections! Thank you for all your work this summer!
