How Safe is Your Chemical Storage?

Now is a great time to go through your chemical storage space and ensure it's as safe as possible.


Watch this video from the American Chemistry Council and Chlorine Institute to review safe storage, handling, and use of pool chemicals.

Additional Training Resources

Operating a water recreation facility is a complicated process that requires knowledge of water chemistry and balance, mechanical equipment, chemical safety, and record keeping. Participating in a recognized pool operator certification can provide that training and knowledge needed to successfully operate a pool. Clark County pool inspectors all carry an operator certification.

Certified Pool Operator (CPO)


  • From the Pool and Hot Tub Alliance; 700,000 certified
  • 2-day training course, followed by an exam to receive certification.
  • Available in-person, virtual, and hybrid.
  • English and Spanish courses
  • Valid for 5 years

Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO)


  • From the National Recreation and Park Association; 8,000 certified
  • 2-day training course, followed by an exam to receive certification.
  • Available in-person, virtual, and hybrid.
  • Language accommodation upon request
  • Valid for 5 years
