October 16th 2024 Fall Issue

Information for commercial pool operators and owners

Seasonal Closure Deadline: October 31st 2024

While closing down for the winter, make sure everything on and around your pool deck is safe and secure. See below for what not to do, from real examples we saw in 2024.

The pool enclosure is the first line of defense against drowning and unlawful access. Fences, gates, and doors should always be complete, closed, and latched accordingly. Even during times of construction the barrier must be maintained.

If a cover is used, it must be installed properly. Only ASTM F1346-23 covers may be used, and should be installed such that water does not pond on the surface creating an additional drowning hazard. Also, all attachment points need to be functional.

If a cover is not used, water quality has to be maintained to achieve clear and colorless water. Main drain covers must be clearly visible in detail. Testing for sanitizer and pH should be done and recorded once a week.

Notify us prior to any construction or remodeling of the pool/spa, barrier/fencing, pool equipment, restrooms, or clubhouse. We may need to review it to ensure it's compliant with pool code.

If the facility has a sale coming up, contact us as soon as possible! Pool permits are not transferrable between owners, and a new account needs to be set up in order to get 2025 pool permits.
