Exercise Could Help Predict Susceptibility to Chronic Pain
Dr. Junad Khan
Faculty researchers have documented a link between exercise and pain modulation that could ultimately help treat patients and predict whether they have a propensity to develop chronic pain. It's been well-established by scientists that exercise can reduce sensitivity to pain, an effect known as "exercise-induced hypo analgesia'' or "EIH." But RSDM's Dr. Junad Khan and former faculty member Eli Eliav have discovered diagnostic potential for EIH. Their results could also help doctors develop highly customized pain management plans. First-Year Students Learn A Dental Art
Students Hala Altunji and Anthony Arena perfect their technique
It's dental school's first great technical challenge, one that requires patience, practice and the ability to keep cool while melting enough wax to light a birthday cake. As part of their dental anatomy class, first-year students must recreate the shape and structure of every type of tooth, from molars to incisors. Find out how they master the skill of "waxing up a tooth.''
Teach a man to fish and you can both have a good time - even if you don't catch a thing. That's what nearly 30 RSDM volunteers discovered at the Fishing Outing for People with Disabilities. LEARN MORE

RSDM Alums Have Much to Offer Students
Allison Striano never met Dr. William Cinotti, the late RSDM faculty member for whom her scholarship is named. But the alums who established a fund in his honor were happy to share their memories. They are among many alumni who help RSDM students, from donating financial gifts to passing along knowledge. LEARN MORE
