License Renewal
Good News About Renewing Your Social Work License
If you've been having trouble renewing your license or certification, there's good news. The Board of Social Work Examiners (BSWE) has extended the date for renewal to September 30, 2016.

Click here to read the full ALERT on the top of the BSWE Web site. If you're still having problems, do not try to call the BSWE office because the renewal web site is managed by the Division of Consumer Affairs (DCA). If you've tried to renew on the Web site at least 3 times without success, please call the DCA at 973.273.8001.

When you finish renewing, you will be able to print out a receipt/confirmation that you have paid. Be sure to print and keep this receipt so you will have proof that you have renewed.

NASW Addresses the Need for Greater Transparency from Health Insurance Companies

NASW has submitted comments on Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Parity to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The letter highlights the need for health insurance companies to provide greater transparency in how they determine parity and provide access to behavioral health services. Read the complete letter here. It encourages the federal government and state administrations to clearly define mental health parity instructing if it is based on the comparison of medical/surgical services or costs. NASW urges the elimination of barriers to evidence-based behavioral health treatment so that routine services can be adopted as a part of holistic health care.
