A Message from Executive Director Walter Kalman
Walter KalmanI hope by now all of you who are members have received and had an opportunity to read over your most recent copy of FOCUS.
(if you haven't received your digital copy by
e-mail,  contact us).

As I detailed in my message, NASW nationally is now on the threshold of planning and implementing significant changes that hopefully will position us better for the future. Not all of these are changes that all members will find favorable. Some will alter the way we do business, others will alter the way the organization is governed. All are intended to make us more efficient and more effective in our programs, advocacy and member services.

We need you to continue to pay close attention to these changes as they are announced. Ask questions. Make suggestions. Get involved. Volunteer. Come to the meetings of the many Units, Private Practice and Special Interest Groups. This is your organization, and you are an essential part of making it and keeping it great.

Also Licensed in NY? Good News!

NASW-NJ has just received approval from the NY State Board for Social Work for our courses which will soon count for those with NY social work licenses.

NOTE: Due to a 90-day submission requirement for each course, we will be able to offer courses that count for both NJ and NY licenses starting later in Fall 2015. We will clearly mark each course that we offer as also approved for NY when applicable.
