(2 CEUs) Cultivating a Sense of Purpose through the Plague of Dementia
Message from Executive Director Walter X. Kalman
Tuesday, November 8!

It's the final stretch - only 5 days left to Election Day!
As you probably know, NASW has endorsed Hillary Clinton. We all must do everything we can to make sure Hillary Clinton becomes our next President!

Hillary Clinton has been a stalwart and outspoken p ropon ent for health care reform; HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment; women's reproductive rights; social safety net; racial justice and e qual rights; LGBTQ rights; and many other values and policies that are strongly aligned with NASW and the social work profession.

NASW Political Endorsements for New Jersey

The Political Action for Candidate Election (PACE), the political action arm of NASW, has endorsed Democrat Josh Gottheimer to represent New Jersey's Fifth Congressional District. In addition to the support of PACE, Gotthiemer is backed by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee as well as both Bill and Hillary Clinton, for whom he was a speechwriter.

We strongly encourage members to vote for and encourage others to support Gottheimer's candidacy for Congress. The election of Gottheimer is all the more critical to advancing a forward-looking agenda in that his opponent has had a dismal record on nearly all issues of importance to social workers.

PACE views the prospect of Gottheimer's election as an important addition to the roster of progressive lawmakers representing the state in Congress. These include Rep. Donald Norcross (First District), Rep. Frank Pallone (Sixth District), Rep. Albio Sires (Eighth District), William Pascrell (Ninth District), Rep. Donald Payne (10th District), and Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (12th District). All have distinguished themselves with their voting records on health, human service, and related issues. PACE is pleased to endorse these candidates for election.

If you can help with the "Get Out the Vote" effort for the Gottheimer campaign - or for any other of the other campaigns endorsed by PACE - this weekend and/or on Election Day, please contact, Tell them proudly that you're a Social Worker working to elect progressive candidates!
PACE National, which is registered with the Federal Election Commission, is responsible for making endorsements for candidates at the federal level.

This project was initiated and implemented by Rufus Sylvester Lynch who is currently serving as a Regional Representative to the NASW National Board of Directors representing the New Jersey and Pennsylvania Chapters.

NASW's role has included offering workshops, publishing articles, and distributing information. One goal of NASW's involvement was to make resources available online to its members and other community social workers to use.
