A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT
We're officially past the halfway point of both the year and our board term, and it's given me a chance to reflect on everything we've built together so far.
More than anything, I've found myself feeling incredibly grateful for our board, our committee leaders, our volunteers, and every member who continues to show up and invest in this community. To our newest members, welcome. We're so happy you're here and proud to have you join more than 200 communications professionals who make up OCPRSA.
Lately, I've been thinking about the PR of it all. Not the campaigns, the headlines, or the metrics, but the people behind the work.
The familiar faces who continue to show up, and the new ones who decide to walk through our doors for the very first time. The conversations before an event begins. The introductions that turn into friendships, mentors, business opportunities, and sometimes even lifelong connections. Those are the moments that make OCPRSA feel like so much more than a professional organization.
Serving as your President has reminded me that our chapter isn't defined by the number of events we host, it's defined by the people who choose to invest in one another. Every panel discussion, coffee meetup, mixer, and volunteer opportunity gives us the chance to learn from someone with a different perspective and continue strengthening the communications community we're building here in Orange County.
One of the things I love most about our profession is that no two days ever look the same. Whether you're working at an agency, in-house, in nonprofit, government, or running your own business, we're all storytellers in different ways. Over the past few months, I've had conversations with members helping support community FIFA World Cup initiatives, leading grand openings across Orange County, managing crisis communications, launching brands, and building meaningful campaigns that impact our communities. It's a reminder that PR isn't one career path, it's hundreds of different stories, all connected by our ability to communicate with purpose.
As we head into the next few months, I hope you'll continue making time for yourself and for this community. Come to an event, introduce yourself to someone new, reconnect with a familiar face, or consider getting involved with the chapter.
Thank you for being part of this community and for sharing your time, ideas, and expertise with one another. It truly is a privilege to serve as your President.
I hope to see you at our Summer Media Mixer!
