August 2025

Hello Suleica,

The dog days of summer are here, and Gwinnett has plenty of ways to beat the heat! Take a dip in the pool, cool off at the splash pad, or chill out at an indoor event!

Get buzzing for the Great Southeast Pollinator Census!

Native bees play a vital role in pollinating Georgia’s fruit and vegetable crops — including blueberries and watermelons — along with wildflowers, shrubs, and trees that protect watersheds and provide food and shelter for other wildlife.

Join the statewide effort to improve pollinator health during the Great Southeast Pollinator Census on August 22 and August 23, and spend 15 minutes logging the pollinators you see at your home, school, or workplace, then submit your findings to GSEPC.org.

Gwinnett is hosting several free pollinator counting events for all ages, including Friday afternoon at the Isaac Adair House in Lawrenceville, Saturday morning at Vines Park in Loganville, and Saturday afternoon at McDaniel Farm Park in Duluth. On August 23, residents can visit Shorty Howell Park from 10:00am to noon for Playtime with Pollinators.
