Morning Prayer on Facebook, Monday-Friday | 8:30AM - Did you know that the SOUTHERN ADIRONDACK DEANERY offers Morning Prayer on Facebook? Clergy and laity take turns leading the Daily Office to provide another venue for us all to draw near to Jesus; to pray the Psalms, Collects and beautiful Canticles; and receive the words of Holy Scripture so that we might “read, mark, learn and inwardly digest them, that we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life…” (BCP, p.236). Please join us any morning and receive the blessings that come with corporate worship – even when it’s electronic! Subscribe to our page and get notified when we go live! Questions? Ask Dean Nancy Goff - nlgoff@verizon.net

Bishop Edington's last letter from Lambeth - The bags are unpacked. The truly heroic weight of printed material is put away. (Okay, well, not all of it, yet. There was a lot of paper.) I am already having to think about the logistics for the next journey.

But before all that, I’m taking stock of how much my imagination has been challenged by the days just past.  Read on >

August 12 - If God is Love

...The 2022 Lambeth Conference is now over. Like all of you, I followed it from a distance.[4] The bishops who gathered in Lambeth addressed a wide range of concerns from Evangelism, to Human Dignity, to Climate Change. If you want to know more, check out the Lambeth Conference 2022 website here.

To my mind, the greatest witness of the bishops attending Lambeth was that they were, by and large, not horrible to one another. This was not a given. There were real differences going into the conference, particularly over matters of human sexuality.[5] Those differences were not resolved by the Lambeth Conference and remain profound.[6]  Read Bishop Chip's whole reflection >

Visiting clergy bring hope, healing to Episcopalians in Virgin Islands churches

For nearly half of Trevor Bridgewater’s life, St. Mary’s Church in Virgin Gorda, in the Episcopal Diocese of the Virgin Islands, had been without a priest. Then the Rev. Ellis Clifton arrived last November, as part of an initiative of The Episcopal Church’s Office of African Descent Ministries programs, and “Father Fireball” as he is affectionately known, has inspired visions of planting new congregations, and serving as a community hub. Attendance has tripled, and the church has added a second Sunday morning service, said Bridgewater, 30, the senior warden. Read the ENS Story >

The Episcopal Dioceses of Western New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania

From Bishop Sean: the Lambeth Conference concludes - Earlier today in Canterbury, the Lambeth Conference of bishops from across the Anglican Communion drew to a close. The Archbishop of Canterbury gave his closing address this morning, and in the late afternoon, bishops participated in a closing worship service at Canterbury Cathedral. Tomorrow I will fly, God and the airlines willing, from London to Buffalo.

This has been my second Lambeth Conference. My first one, in 2008, took place less than a year after I became the bishop of Northwestern Pennsylvania. The context for this meeting has been dramatically different, as the Episcopal Church and several other provinces of the communion now practice marriage equality and strive for the full inclusion of LGBTQ people.  Continue reading >
