12 Universities nationwide selected to participate in the Battery Workforce Challenge

Cal State LA has been selected to participate in the nationwide Battery Workforce Challenge, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at advancing electric vehicle technology and combating climate change. The U.S. Department of Energy and Stellantis recently launched the competition to address the unprecedented demand for a domestic EV/Battery workforce.

NASA grant to explore

additive manufacturing on the Moon

A new ECST project titled "Additive Manufacturing on the Moon: Exploring the Potential of Laser Wire Directed Energy Deposition for Metallic Component Fabrication" has been selected to receive $900K from NASA's MUREP Space Technology Artemis Research (M-STAR) program to pursue research, educational, and outreach activities on Metal 3D Printing for potential implementation on the Moon. National Institutes of Health grant to provide students biomedical research opportunities

The four-year grant from the NIH Support for Research Excellence program will support research on computer-aided drug design. Five students will work on the project each year. Student research assistants will help design and develop a hybrid computational model. They will also clean, optimize, and organize data.
