Have a Heart and support The Jasmine Project
Over many years, long-time church member and former St Thomas School librarian Natalee Jenks organized and led the “Have-a-Heart Tree” giving initiative at Christmas to collect gifts for babies and toddlers of local families in financial need. In Natalee’s memory, our effort is now called “Natalee’s Have-a-Heart Tree”
Please join us to give this Christmas! St. Thomas has committed to supplying 100 gifts this year for newborn babies and expectant mothers who are a part of The Jasmine Project, a program run by University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine and Healthy Start Coalition of Miami-Dade. This year, we will expand our giving to also request monetary gifts that will be used to stock their diaper bank.
To sign up to give a financial donation to help stock The Jasmine Project’s diaper bank, please click here: www.stepsmia.org/haveaheart
If you choose to give a present, please drop off your gift – wrapped and clearly labeled with the Mom ID number —at St Thomas not later than Monday, December 14th. For questions, please contact Gabi Souto at 305-606-0748
Like the Three Kings showered baby Jesus with gifts in the manger, join us to give gifts of welcome to newborn babies this Christmas!

Journey together during Advent through great art that takes us from the “Annunciation” to “Joseph’s Dream” to “Mary’s Visitation with Elizabeth” to the “Road to Bethlehem” to the “Nativity.” In the four sessions in December, we will examine these stories through Orthodox Icons from the East, Medieval and Renaissance art from the West, and pictures of Mary and Jesus from different cultures around the world. For information, contact Ann Rose anngrose65@bellsouth.net .

|
Session 2 of the Zoom Advent Series (4:30 on Tuesdays) will focus on the events that followed the Annunciation in the Christmas story: Joseph’s Dream, Mary’s Visit to Elizabeth, and finally the Journey to Bethlehem. Pictures from various traditions will be included. This picture of finding “no room at the inn” is by Chinese artist 白慧群 (Bai Huiqun, Pai-ch’un). It is in the Ricci Museum in San Francisco.

WELCOME HOME TO ST. THOMAS
CHRISTMAS CONCERT
On Sunday, December 20, 2020 at 4:00 PM the premiere of the annual Christmas Concert from St. Thomas Episcopal Church will be aired on You Tube. Because of the restrictions upon singing during the time of Covid, the concert will be virtual, and thus you will have the opportunity to sing-along with some of your favorite Christmas selections from the convenience of your home.
The Choir Section Leaders and organ will provide support for the congregational singing of traditional Christmas carols such as Hark the Herald Angels Sing, O Come all Ye Faithful, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and, of course, Silent Night. The program will also include a group of Christmas Carols in Spanish performed by the Choir Section Leaders. The rest of the program will consist of solos, and small ensembles as well as some other pre-recorded vocal and instrumental surprises, of other favorite Christmas selections.
The concert, which is being co-sponsored by the St. Thomas Episcopal Church and School Endowment, as an outreach to the greater Miami Community and beyond will be free and available on You Tube. Be sure to spread the word to your family and friends. If you are unable to view the premiere on Sunday, December 20 at 4:00 PM you will be able to continually view it on You Tube on Father Tim’s site.
Stay tuned for the link, which will be provided in the Friday InStep, on December, 18.
Hope to see you all, virtually, as we welcome home to St. Thomas Episcopal Parish family and friends alike for this special event.
