Bedzow, Ph.D., associate professor of medicine and director of the Biomedical Ethics and Humanities Program, gave a keynote address, "The Difference Between History, Tradition, and Narrative - and What That Has to Do With the Holocaust and Bioethics," at the International Holocaust Remembrance Day Conference at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, on January 28. The conference also included a presentation of the recently published special issue of the Conatus Journal of Philosophy, dedicated to the topic of bioethics and the Holocaust. Dr. Bedzow and Stacy Gallin, D.M.H., director of the Center for Human Dignity in Bioethics, Health and the Holocaust at Misericordia University and founder of the Maimonides Institute for Medicine, Ethics and the Holocaust, served as guest editors of the issue.
As the number of cases of the novel coronavirus continues to grow, so do face mask sales. But according to Robert Amler, M.D., M.B.A., dean of the School of Health Sciences and Practice, "Paper, surgical-type masks are not designed to protect the wearer, they're designed to protect the people all around you. Instead of buying a face mask, focus on washing your hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds."
