NYMC Days of Giving Set for
March 26 and 27

Mark your calendars for March 26 and 27 for New York Medical College's (NYMC) Days of Giving -- an exciting fundraising campaign with a goal of raising $500,000 for student scholarships in the School of Medicine, Graduate School of Basic Medical Sciences and the School of Health Sciences and Practice. The event will last 31 hours, or 1,860 minutes - in celebration of NYMC's founding year 1860. There are many ways to support this important initiative. Read more about the Days of Giving.

School of Medicine Class of 2019 Gets Ready for Match Day

For the School of Medicine (SOM) Class of 2019, this Friday, March 15, marks one of the most significant milestones of their medical school careers -- participation in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP), also known as Match Day.

Beginning his tenure with the New York Medical College (NYMC) in perfect time to experience his first Match Day at the College, Jerry L. Nadler, M.D., MACP, FAHA, FACE, dean of the School of Medicine says, "I am very excited to be at NYMC as dean to join our students and their families to celebrate this special day with the Class of 2019. This is one of the most meaningful days for our students as they move forward toward becoming the outstanding physicians of tomorrow."

The NRMP expects the 2019 Main Residency Match to be the largest in history, exceeding the more than 43,000 applicants who registered for the 2018 Match and the more than 33,000 positions offered last year.

"Match Day is the culmination of years of hard work for the fourth-year medical students and marks the beginning of their careers. It is a stressful time for many medical students, however, New York Medical College has a long history of having extremely successful match results and we hope our students will all be very happy with their outcomes," says Susan Rachlin, M.D., FACR, associate dean of student affairs and associate professor of radiology. "As their time at New York Medical College is nearing an end, we hope they will remember their time fondly as we will remember them and we wish them all the best of luck."
