Med Student Lounge Completely Reinvigorated
|
The newly refurbished student lounge in the Basic Sciences Building is a welcome retreat for study-weary students. The renovated area is filled with natural sunlight from a newly installed skylight and features hardwood floors, new couches and a flat screen television, seating areas for studying and socializing, and a small kitchenette area with hot and cold filtered water and a coffee bar. A pool table, ping pong table and piano round out the recreational space. "The new lounge area is functional and comfortable," said Gladys M. Ayala, M.D., M.P.H., vice chancellor of university student affairs, senior associate dean for student affairs, School of Medicine. "I think students who frequent it will appreciate the space as a place to unwind and rejuvenate." The lounge is open 24/7 to medical students and is accessible with a valid student ID card.
