Felipe Cabello, M.D., right, professor emeritus of microbiology and immunology, was invited to present at the symposium "Celebrating Diverse and Novel Science," organized by the Department of Genetics at Stanford University School of Medicine on February 14-17. The symposium honored Stanley N. Cohen, M.D., on the occasion of his 85th birthday. Before coming to NYMC, Dr. Cabello trained at Stanford University with Dr. Cohen, who together with Herbert Boyer, Ph.D., of the University of California San Francisco, invented DNA recombinant technology and are credited with launching the biotechnology revolution with their seminal work on recombinant DNA.

Padmini Murthy, M.D., M.P.H., M.S., FAMWA, FRSPH, professor in the Division of Health Policy and Management and global health director, was honored at the Association of Medical Women in India conference, on February 18, in Mumbai.

Parthener Pinder, M.D., M.P.H. '18, a Dr.P.H. candidate, presented "Health Literacy - Importance for Young Children and Families" to early childhood teachers at the Guyana-Jamaica Friendship Association (GJFA) First Annual Early Childhood Symposium and Workshops in Partnership with Early Childhood Commission (ECC) in Yallahs, St. Thomas, Jamaica, on February 24. Dr. Pinder also presented "Health Literacy for Counselors and Social Workers" at a two-day professional development conference at The Mico University College in Kingston, Jamaica, the oldest teacher-training institution in the western hemisphere established in 1836.
