The New York Medical College chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS) just received an "outstanding" ranking by the GHHS based on the triennial chapter check-in survey submitted by Jennifer L. Koestler, M.D., senior associate dean for medical education and associate professor of pediatrics and medicine, who serves as the GHHS advisor. The questionnaire sent to 160 GHHS chapter advisors identified events, activities and programs designed or conducted at least in part by GHHS medical students that increase engagement and empathy with the diverse patient community they serve; encourage clinician resilience and team building; teach advocacy and leadership skills so critical for today's clinicians; and highlight the importance of compassionate care at all levels in the healthcare workplace.
