NYMC Hosts Inaugural A cappella Invitational
NYMC hosted its very own version of an American Idol style evening of musical performances as three musical groups performed for an audience of faculty, staff and fellow students in Chouake Auditorium on March 29. In order of appearance, the NYMC School of Medicine's Borborygmi Bells and Arrhythmias, and the Touro College of Dental Medicine's (TCDM) Chromatic Scalers each performed three songs. As a finale, the groups came together for a rendition of Happy Birthday in honor of the birthday of TCDM student George Rubin, The Chromatic Scalers' musical co-director. Anthony M. Sozzo, M.S.Ed., M.A., associate dean for student affairs and director of student financial planning and student activities, was the master of ceremonies. According to Mr. Sozzo, NYMC formed its first a cappella group more than 25 years ago, and they are still singing strong. View the photo gallery and video.
