NYMC Collaborates with Regeneron for COVID-19 Clinical Drug Trials
Drug trial at Westchester Medical Center puts NYMC among top researchers in the nation racing to find an effective treatment to fight COVID-19
When COVID-19 first hit our shores in early March with no vaccine nor proven drug treatment in sight, new innovative collaborations sprouted up across the nation, as leading research institutions, pharmaceutical companies and hospitals joined forces to find a solution fast. Among them-a collaborative clinical drug trial by New York Medical College (NYMC) and Regeneron launched at Westchester Medical Center (WMC) within the first few weeks. Seeking a partner with whom to establish a clinical drug trial that could be used to treat critically ill patients with COVID-19, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals proposed the collaboration-not only for NYMC's state-of-the-art virology labs and internationally regarded experts-but because of the College's decades-long involvement in the annual development of the influenza vaccine. Read the full story on the Regeneron clinical trials here.

Health Sciences Library Continues to Provide Service
The Health Sciences Library (HSL), which established a strong virtual presence long before the COVID-19 pandemic arrived, continues to provide most services, even as the New York Medical College community works remotely. In addition to regularly subscribed content, publishers have offered free temporary access to many ebooks, journals and online resources and preprint servers to disseminate COVID-19 research. Reference librarians continue to fulfill search requests for literature involving COVID-19 and other research topics, and are available for online consultation and instruction. Inter-library loan service is available and the HSL blog provides the latest library news. Marie T. Ascher, M.S., M.P.H., the Lillian Hetrick Huber Endowed Director of the Health Sciences Library, reports, "Whether you are on the front-lines dealing with the pandemic, making changes to the way you teach or taking the opportunity to write and do research, the library continues to offer full access to our electronic collections and services. We are fully functional and are here to connect you to the information you need."
