NYMC Announces Breakthrough Patent for Revolutionary New Bandage Using Nano Cells to Deliver Antimicrobials and Promote Healing 

Alan Kadish, M.D., president of New York Medical College (NYMC) and Touro College and University System (TCUS), announced a patent, issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for a revolutionary new bandage using Nano technology, part of a new agreement for NYMC to acquire a world class portfolio of patents in medical, technological and consumer products with one of the world's most prolific inventors. The new Nano Bandaging System releases antibiotics, antiseptics and other pathogen killing ingredients from a series of nano cells on the bandage while almost instantaneously drawing out dead material and secretions from the wound, leaving the wound cleaner and drier.  Read the full article on the new patent.
NYMC Welcomes Neil W. Schluger, M.D., as the Barbara and William Rosenthal Chair of the Department of Medicine 

New York Medical College (NYMC) School of Medicine welcomes Neil W. Schluger, M.D., as the Barbara and William Rosenthal Chair of the Department of Medicine. He will also serve as director of medicine at Westchester Medical Center (WMC). Dr. Schluger was most recently in the news for his work on a study on the use of hydroxychloroquine for treating COVID-19 infection that was published in The New England Journal of Medicine. Join the HSL for a Community Read and Book Club

The New York Medical College (NYMC) community is invited to participate in the Health Sciences Library (HSL) community read and book club co-sponsored by the NYMC Student National Medical Association (SNMA) with support from the School of Medicine Student Senate.

During July and early August the  NYMC comm unity will be reading  How to Be an Antiracist, by Ibram X. Kendi , followed by  facilitated group discussions via Zoom.  Please complete the online form to indicate your interest in reading the book and participating in or facilitating a discussion group on a date to be determined. The SNMA suggests purchasing the book from a black-owned bookstore Read more on the community read and book club.

Camille A. Clare, M.D., M.P.H. '11, associate dean of diversity and inclusion for the School of Medicine and associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology, who will be assuming the role of District 2 Chair of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) in October, was elected as the National ACOG Junior Fellow Advisor.
