Join NYMC at the Founder's Dinner

This year's Founder's Dinner is set for Wednesday, September 18, at The Surf Club on the Sound in New Rochelle, New York. The annual fundraising event will be an evening to celebrate New York Medical College's proud history and promising future, honor distinguished community leaders for their impactful and transformative achievements and raise money for student scholarships. This year's gala will honor Robert A. Barish, M.D. '79, M.B.A., with the William Cullen Bryant Award; Jean Marie Malecki, M.D. '79, M.P.H., FACPM, with the Alfred B. DelBello Distinguished Service Award; and Ira D. Glick, M.D. '61, with the Jackson E. Spears Award. Honorary Doctor of Science degrees will also be presented to Regeneron co-founders Leonard S. Schleifer, M.D., Ph.D., president and chief executive officer, and George D. Yancopoulos, M.D., Ph.D., president and chief scientific officer. Lisa Tronzano Is Named Director of Human Resources

Lisa Tronzano has been selected to serve as director of the Department of Human Resources (HR), effective July 1, 2019. Ms. Tronzano joined the New York Medical College (NYMC) community in July 2018, providing HR support to both NYMC and the Touro College of Dental Medicine (TouroCDM) at NYMC. In her new role, Ms. Tronzano oversees all HR functions for NYMC and TouroCDM including talent acquisition and recruitment, performance management and improvement, employee and labor relations, compensation practices and policy development and implementation. 




SOM Students Complete Inaugural Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship at CareMount Medical, P.C.

At the end of June, 14 members of the School of Medicine (SOM) Class of 2020 became the first cohort of students to complete a new Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship (LIC) program at CareMount Medical, P.C. and Northern Westchester Hospital. The six-month long program is a modified form of third-year medical school clerkships where students participate in several clerkships simultaneously, rather than in distinct blocks.

Touro Dental Health to Offer Free Valet Parking for Patients

The Touro College of Dental Medicine (TouroCDM) at New York Medical College will be offering free valet parking services for patients of Touro Dental Health beginning on September 3. The valet will be located in front of the ground floor entrance of 19 Skyline Drive. The valet service is for dental patients only and will be available Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to noon.

ACCOLADES

Esther L. Sabban, Ph.D., professor of biochemistry and molecular biology, participated in the Gairdner International Symposium and 12th International Meeting on NPY-PYY-P on July 27-31 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She presented "Translational Potential of Intranasal Delivery of NPY or Y1R Agonists to Prevent Development of PTSD and Associated Disorder." 

Bijan Safai, M.D., D.Sc., professor of and chair of the Department of Dermatology, was selected to serve a second-term as president of the Board of Directors of the Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY). 
The Doctor of Physical Therapy Class of 2019 achieved a 100 percent first-time passing rate on the National Physical Therapy Examination.
