Meet the Chairman of the Board 

After serving for nearly a decade as a member of the Board of Trustees of New York Medical College (NYMC), Joseph D. Mark has been appointed as chair of its Board of Trustees. A former investment banker and health care executive, Mr. Mark is fueled by his interest in the health science and education fields and his professional accomplishments include investing in and cofounding several health care companies. Blending his professional and philanthropic passions, Mr. Mark believes that contributions of "time, experience, and money" can help organizations achieve their missions. NYMC Unveils Free Community Food Pantry
 
Donate what you can, take what you need, is the idea behind the New York Medical College (NYMC) free community food pantry, located outside of the Alumni House at 20 Sunshine Cottage Road. The micro pantry will be stocked with non-perishable food items and other items donated by the NYMC community. The pantry will be monitored by volunteers coordinated by the Student Healthcare Executives Club (StuHE) in the School of Health Sciences and Practice (SHSP). The NYMC Biomedical Ethics and Humanities Program Hosts New Web Series to Improve Civil Public Dialogue: "Creating Community through Conversation"

Robert W. Amler, M.D., M.B.A., vice president for government affairs and dean of the School of Health Sciences and Practice, moderated a an online panel discussion, "Innovations in COVID Research and Beyond," on August 27, presented by the Westchester County Association and the Westchester and Fairfield Counties Business Journals.
 
Arlene G. Adler, Ph.D., assistant professor of pediatrics, was a speaker at the webinar "COVID-19: Preparing for Back to School," sponsored by the Westchester County Youth Bureau on September 3. The online forum was designed to help prepare families of school-age children and youth for the start of the school year.
 
Heather Brumberg, M.D., M.P.H., associate professor of pediatrics, assumed the role of president of the Eastern Society of Pediatric Research (ESPR), the first woman elected to this position.
 
Albert Kwon, M.D., assistant professor of anesthesiology, and Kevin L. Pohlman, M.Ed., NRP, FACHE, CCEMT-P, CHSE, CHSOS, NHDP-BC, assistant director of the Center for Disaster Medicine and assistant professor in the Institute of Public Health, were selected by the Business Council of Westchester as 2020 Rising Stars-40 Under 40, based on professional and/or entrepreneurial accomplishments, professional and/or business affiliations, and demonstrated leadership skills. They were honored at virtual celebration on September 2.
