Born from Above:
God’s Love in a Waiting World

In John 3:1–17, Nicodemus comes to Jesus at night - full of questions. Jesus meets him not with condemnation, but with promise: “Unless one is born again - from above - he cannot see the kingdom of God.” What Nicodemus struggles to understand, Jesus patiently reveals. New life is not something we achieve, but something God gives by water, Word, and Spirit. The heart of it all is the Gospel itself: “For God so loved the world…”

This reading unfolds during a week when the secular calendar also reflects longing and care. March 1 signals the start of meteorological spring, a quiet reminder that new life is stirring even when winter still lingers.

This echoes Jesus’ words to Nicodemus. The world longs for healing and hope, but those things cannot be manufactured. They are received.
Lent invites us to step out of the darkness of self-reliance and into the light of Christ’s mercy.

This week, we are reminded that faith begins where Nicodemus stood: listening, questioning, and finally trusting the love of God made known in His Son - given not to condemn the world, but to save it.
