A Tale of Four Legacy Luthearn School Administrators
There are many ways in which Lutheran schools are special and a blessing to students and families. Students remember their Lutheran school as a special place when they were growing up, and in some cases, it leads them back to their alma mater to serve. That is the case with four former Lutheran school students who are now administrators at their former schools.
During this National Lutheran Schools Week, we are highlighting these individuals.

Supporting Pacific Southwest District Churches
From the Pacific Southwest District:
We humbly praise God and thank you to the many that have donated to provide disaster relief so far. Since Jan. 8, over $130,000 has been donated. Thank you for this amazing response to the needs of those so impacted by the fires.
Know that your gifts go directly to those who need it most. We have received reports confirming how helpful the gift cards we have been distributing to congregations are, with more than $18,000 in gift cards now distributed to area congregations (see reports below). This is possible because of your gifts - and the need is just beginning and will last for months if not years - please give as you are able.

Deadlines for Vicar Applications or Pastoral Candidate (Call) Placements
from the Seminaries
| |
The paperwork for candidate and vicarage placement from the Seminaries for Spring 2025 is to be received at the CNH District office by Friday, February 28, 2025. Please contact the district office (925-245-4000) for call document information for candidates from the seminary and/or information regarding vicarage application and minimum salary. (Ask for Glenna, assistant to President Lange.) Before mailing your final call document or vicarage paperwork, you may send a scanned copy for review to prescnh@cnh-lcms.org.
Your ongoing communication regarding your congregation’s desire to call a candidate or engage a vicar is appreciated. This will help the staff of the President’s office to guide you through your best opportunity for a placement. (Be aware that your request does not guarantee a seminary placement will be made.)

Called to Glory Notifications
As pillars of the faith get called back to their heavenly home, we want to honor and acknowledge the legacy they leave behind and the impact they had within our congregations. If you would like to include any upcoming memorials, please click here to send the name, date of death, and date of service so that we may include them in an upcoming issue of the InTouch. We will still continue to send a Flash for pastors and called workers as well.
Mrs. Margaret Ann Finley, Commissioned Minister, Emeritus, was called to glory on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, in San Francisco, CA. Margaret devoted her adulthood to the Christian education of young students and served many roles up to and including Principal of West Portal Lutheran School (WPLS), San Francisco, CA. Further extending her stewardship by serving as Administrator of Hope Lutheran Day School in Daly City, CA (while also engaged as Assistant Principal at West Portal) gave her much joy. She also especially enjoyed her time as Athletic Director for WPLS, and in recognition of her leadership, the Church and School dedicated the school gym, Finley Court, to Margaret and her husband, Jim, in 2019. She is survived by three daughters and six grandchildren. Visitation was held on Friday, December 6, 2024, at West Portal Lutheran Church, San Francisco, CA and the Funeral was held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at West Portal Lutheran Church, San Francisco, CA.
