April 6-12 marks National Library Week, a fitting time to reflect on the rich history of the Phillip Capozzi, M.D., Library. Its origins date back to 1885, when a group of senior students formed a committee to secure funding and book donations for a permanent reference library at the College. Among them was Eugene H. Porter, M.D. 1885, who later served as New York State Commissioner of Health from 1905 to 1914.

As part of National Stress Awareness Month, the Office of Student Mental Health and Wellness shares tips to help manage stress. Everyone experiences stress and knows that it affects our physical body, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Stress is a normal reaction to an external situation or event, and a natural, justified response to pressure or demands. However, knowing this and addressing it are not the same. One of the reasons why we might not prioritize action to reduce stress is that it feels like there is not much we can do to change it. Even if that were true, allowing stress to go unchecked is dangerous. In fact, stress is one of the leading causes of poor mental health. Consider the usefulness of addressing it early, and with the intention to prevent further decline or escalation, such as burnout. Steps you can take to manage stress more effectively.
