GSBMS Welcomes Incoming Students for the 2023-2024 Academic Year

The cloudy skies cleared the way to warmly welcome the new master’s and Ph.D. students to the GSBMS on August 17 at the annual orientation luncheon. First-year Medical Students Get Financial Wellness Primer

Members of the SOM Class of 2027 participated in a financial seminar on August 7 hosted by Anthony Sozzo, M.A., M.S.Ed., associate dean for student affairs and director of student financial planning and student activities, in which they learned about an array of important topics, including making good financial decisions, creating budgets, salary and repayment calculators and the NYMC Financial Wellness Program. This year for the first time, students also broke into small groups to learn how to create a budget in sessions led by fellow first-year students who had participated in the same exercise during the pre-matriculation program in July. This is the 25th year that Sozzo has hosted the workshop.

Support the Environmental Health Interest Group's Virtual Food Drive to Support Maui

On August 8, 2023, one of the deadliest wildfires in U.S. history spread on the Hawaiian island of Maui, destroying the historic town Lahaina and devastating the lives of many local inhabitants. The Maui Food Bank provides safe and nutritious food to anyone in Maui County and is currently working diligently to provide food to those affected by this disaster. The Environmental Health Interest Group has set up a virtual food drive through the Maui Food Bank for donations. You may choose which foods to buy on the donation page or simply make a monetary donation to the Maui Food Bank. With every $1 donated, the Maui Food Bank can provide four meals to those affected by the wildfires. Our goal for now is to raise $2,000 as a school. Give now and together we can make a difference.
