NYMC Welcomes New Chairs and Honors Former Chairs and Retirees During Special Reception

NYMC formally welcomed several academic chairs appointed this year in SOM and GSBMS and honored former chairs and recent retirees during a special reception hosted by Jerry L. Nadler, M.D., SOM dean, and Marina K. Holz, Ph.D., GSBMS dean, on December 7. Read the full article and view the video.

HSL Set to Host 28th Annual Faculty Author Celebration

The 28th Annual Faculty Author Celebration and Awards Ceremony will honor NYMC faculty on December 15 for their research published during the 2020 calendar year. Health Sciences Library and NYMC leadership will announce the Faculty Author Award recipients at 4:00 p.m. via Zoom. It was a prolific year for NYMC faculty, who published more than 800 citations in 2020. The celebration will honor faculty authors in a variety of categories considering engagement, distribution and the influence of their publications and will feature authors who will discuss their work and their experiences publishing during this significant year in research. Registration is required.

Sixteenth COVID-19 Symposium Scheduled for December 16

The latest webinar in the COVID-19 series, “What Have We Learned? How Can We Use What We Have Learned?” hosted by NYMC and the Touro College and University System (TCUS) will take place on December 16 from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. A panel of experts will look at the pandemic after nearly two years and present updates on natural immunity, travel advice for the holidays, viral mutations, oral antiviral agents coming to market, bringing employees back to the workplace and media lessons learned during the pandemic. The Family Health Center Provides Quality Care for the Community

The NYMC Family Health Center has been a reliable and crucial component to the health of the College and local communities since it opened in 2019, providing outpatient medical, preventive and urgent care for members of the NYMC, TCDM and local communities. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Family Health Center began to offer COVID-19 testing and primary doses and booster shots of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and Janssen vaccines. Lori Solomon, M.D. ’99, M.P.H. ’09, clinical associate professor and chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine and director of the Center, provides insight into what the Family Health Center offers.
