Simultaneous Heart-Kidney Transplant Brings Higher Risk
Simultaneous heart-kidney transplant results in a significantly higher risk of kidney transplant failure and death than kidney after heart transplantation, according to a new study by NYMC faculty, including Kenji Okumura, M.D., assistant professor of surgery and the lead author on the study, published in the Annals of Surgery Open.

From Response to Real Impact
Thomas McAdam, M.P.H., educator and accreditation manager in the Institute of Public Health, spent years working as an emergency medical technician, where his day-to-day experiences sparked a deep interest in disease patterns, epidemiology, and public health. During the COVID-19 pandemic, McAdam realized the importance of the unique challenges in the EMS field.
