Chancellor Halperin Hosts Virtual Town Hall Meeting
 
Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer Edward C. Halperin, M.D., M.A., hosted a virtual town hall meeting on February 10. The State of the Campus update on the New York Medical College and the Touro College of Dental Medicine (TCDM) communities covered presentations on the proactive surveillance of asymptomatic individuals for COVID-19 using pooled saliva screening on campus; the admissions process using virtual interviews in the School of Medicine and TCDM; Match Day at TCDM; status reports faculty and staff recruitment; updates on Munger Pavillion, food service on campus and the laboratory renovation project in the Basic Sciences Building; events for Black History Month program; mental health support services for students; and the COVID-19 vaccine plan on campus. Join NYMC and TCUS for the Tenth Symposium in the COVID-19 Series

New York Medical College (NYMC) and the Touro College and University System (TCUS) will continue its series on COVID-19 with its tenth symposium, "What have we learned? How can we use what we have learned?" on February 18 at noon. A panel of faculty experts will share the latest updates on how SARS-COV-2 mutates; how the mutation of the virus may affect plans for vaccination and new vaccines; herd immunity; the impact of the pandemic on food insecurity in the United States; and lessons learned about managing a mass vaccination program. The symposium will be moderated by Edward C. Halperin, M.D., M.A., chancellor and chief executive officer, and a Q&A session will be hosted by Alan Kadish, M.D., president. NYMC Students Receive Touro Fellowship Grants to Support Research

Two New York Medical College (NYMC) students, Stella Iskandarian, right, School of Medicine (SOM) Class of 2023, and Saqlain Javed, an M.S. candidate in the Graduate School of Basic Medical Sciences (GSBMS), are the fortunate recipients of Student Research Fellowship Grants from the Touro College and University System (TCUS) to support their research.
