Medical Students Present Research on Wide Range of Topics During 25th Annual Medical Student Research Forum
More than 70 School of Medicine (SOM) students had the opportunity to present their research to the New York Medical College (NYMC) community during the 25th Annual Medical Student Research Forum (MSRF) on February 4. Topics presented during the forum, which is planned entirely by students on the Medical Student Research Committee, ranged from heart disease treatment, barriers to breast cancer screening and poor sleep health during COVID-19 lockdowns to gender differences in the writing of recommendation letters for residency applicants. NYMC Welcomes Zuleika Cuevas, M.A., M.B.A., as Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Inclusion
A passionate educator, mentor and coach, Zuleika Cuevas, M.A., M.B.A., has joined the Office of Diversity and Inclusion as assistant to the vice chancellor for diversity and inclusion to support New York Medical College (NYMC) in the development and implementation of strategic diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, that advance the College's mission and vision. Ms. Cuevas reports to Mill Etienne, M.D. '02, M.P.H. FAAN, FAES, vice chancellor for diversity and inclusion, associate dean of student affairs and associate professor of neurology and of medicine in the School of Medicine (SOM), and will support all students on the Valhalla campus in the SOM, School of Health Sciences and Practice, Graduate School of Basic Medical Sciences, Touro College of Dental Medicine at NYMC and Touro School of Health Sciences Nursing Program at NYMC. Salomon Amar, D.D.S., Ph.D., vice president for research, New York Medical College, and senior vice president for research affairs, Touro College and University System, was named liaison to the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Group on Research Advancement and Development (GRAND), a national forum for the promotion, support, development and conduct of biomedical research in medical schools and teaching hospitals.
