NYMC Administers First Novel Inhaled mRNA Therapy for Cystic Fibrosis in the U.S.


NYMC, in partnership with ReCode Therapeutics, has taken a significant step forward in advancing treatment options for cystic fibrosis. Allen J. Dozor, M.D., professor of pediatrics and chief of the Division of Pulmonology, Allergy, and Sleep Medicine at NYMC, administered the first U.S. dose of RCT2100 — a novel investigational inhaled messenger RNA (mRNA) therapy for people with cystic fibrosis. The clinical trial, which will assess the safety and tolerability of RCT2100, will provide new hope for people who do not respond to existing treatments.

Research Highlights Deadly Combination of COVID-19 and Chronic Liver Disease


Chronic liver diseases, such as cirrhosis, fatty liver, and alcoholic liver disease, can significantly increase the risk of severe COVID-19 infection complications and death, according to three new studies by NYMC faculty, including Antony Arumairaj, M.D., assistant professor of medicine.

Dr.P.H. Program Now Includes Fully Remote Option


The online synchronous Doctor of Public Health (Dr.P.H.) program, as well as the traditional in-person program, provides students with advanced, practice-oriented skills to address complex public health challenges in their communities and beyond. The Dr.P.H. program emphasizes leadership, policy development, research methods, and innovative problem-solving, equipping students to drive meaningful change in public health systems. This synchronous online format will officially be implemented as of Summer 2025.

Holocaust Remembrance Day and Black History Month: The Segregated U.S. Military and the Liberation of a Concentration Camp


Take part in a profound discussion on the experiences of the segregated U.S. military during World War II and their pivotal role in liberating a concentration camp on Tuesday, January 28, at 4:30 p.m. in the John W. Nevins, M.D. '44 Auditorium. In honor of International Holocaust Remembrance Day and Black History Month, this program is supported by the Office of the Chancellor, Phillip Capozzi, M.D., Library, and the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and co-sponsored by the Center for Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Education of North Carolina and the Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center.

NYMC Office of Diversity and Inclusion, along with Westchester Medical Center's Matilde Roman, Esq. host the 2025 HeLa: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Conference and Symposium. This year's theme is “Advancing Access and Equity: Moving from Awareness to Action,” as extinguished speakers present on topics of health care accessibility, maternal-fetal medicine, and obstetrics and gynecology care, while considering the historical lens of present inequities and community impacts. Speakers will address and applaud progress while detailing what still must be done to bridge present gaps.
