Supriya Jain, M.D., assistant professor of pediatrics and of radiology and clinical education liaison at NYMC, recently led a national multicenter study of myocarditis, an inflammation of heart muscle, following COVID-19 vaccination in teenagers. In the study, published in Pediatrics, cardiac imaging data were collected from hospitals from across the United States to help characterize myocarditis in adolescents after COVID-19 vaccination and understand its impact. Edward C. Halperin, M.D., M.A., chancellor and chief executive officer, shared his thoughts on the recently signed anti-abortion bill in Ohio which prohibits clinics from retaining physicians who teach at a state medical school in an opinion piece, “Ohio’s new anti-abortion law is also an attack on academic freedom,” published in Times Higher Education on January 24, 2022.

Adiya S. Katseff, a student in the Integrated Ph.D. Program (IPP) in the Graduate School of Basic Medical Sciences (GSBMS), wanted more out of her career for her own personal fulfillment and the ability to achieve more. The Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) program in the School of Health Sciences and Practice is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. The M.P.H. was the first advanced degree approved by the Regents of the State of New York at the school which was known as the Graduate School of Health Sciences at the time.
