Alcohol Use Disorder Yields Worse Prognosis Following Brain Hemorrhage


A study by NYMC faculty and students—led by Isaac Thorman, SOM Class of 2027, finds that patients with alcohol use disorder experience significantly poorer long-term outcomes following non-traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage, a neurological condition most commonly caused by a ruptured aneurysm.

Steven Cho, D.D.S., clinical associate professor of dental medicine, oral and maxillofacial surgery, TCDM, has been appointed as the new 2026 president of the New York Academy of Dentistry and as chair of the American College of Dentists New York Section.

Katharine Yamulla, M.H.E.A., CHSE, assistant dean of clinical skills education and assessment and director of the Clinical Skills and Simulation Center, was elected president of Directors of Clinical Skills Education, an association of the American Medical Colleges affiliated society. She is the first non-M.D. to serve in this role.

Honoring Holocaust Victims: NYMC and WMC Participate in Yellow Lights Program

NYMC and Westchester Medical Center Campuses


This year, NYMC and Westchester Medical Center join the Yellow Lights program started in New York State in 2022 to bring greater awareness to International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27. Yellow lights on buildings and landmarks honor the victims of the Holocaust and shine a spotlight on the lessons of this atrocity.
