SHSP Adds Two Joint Degree Programs: Psy.D./M.P.H. and D.O./M.P.H.
In collaboration with the Psy.D. Program at the School of Health Sciences of Touro University, and the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine, NYMC’s public health program now offers two new collaborative degrees – Psy.D./M.P.H. and D.O./M.P.H. These programs provide a flexible M.P.H. Generalist degree that Psy.D. and D.O. students can earn at a greatly reduced cost simultaneously with their home institution’s studies. Psy.D. and D.O. students, as well as alumni, are eligible to pursue the Psy.D./M.P.H. and D.O./M.P.H. degrees. Earning an M.P.H. degree can complement the clinical expertise of Psy.D. and D.O. students and practitioners and equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to address public health challenges effectively within their communities and beyond. The new degrees are part of the Department of Public Health's ongoing efforts to create interdisciplinary collaborations with clinically focused programs. The interdisciplinary collaboration with professionals from these various backgrounds, and the interactions with our other M.P.H. students, many of whom serve as senior administrators for hospitals and other health care facilities, provide all students with valuable networking opportunities and insights into different perspectives on public health challenges.
