Incoming M.D. Students Celebrate Completion of Pre-Matriculation Program
Incoming M.D. students marked the completion of the Pre-Matriculation Program with a graduation ceremony on July 17. During the intensive two-week program, students strengthened their academic, clinical, and professional skills through lectures, hands-on learning, and wellness activities while building meaningful connections with classmates and mentors. Led by dedicated second- and fourth-year medical students and hosted by the Office of Campus Engagement, the program provides a strong foundation for a successful transition into medical school.

White Plains Youth Bureau Explore Health Care Careers at NYMC
Students from the Summer Leadership Medical Pathways Program visited NYMC in July to get an in-depth look at careers in the health sciences. Through the White Plains Youth Bureau, local high school students from underrepresented backgrounds had the opportunity to see first-hand what it’s like to be a medical, physical therapy, and speech-language pathology student and learn about careers in those fields.

Hispanics with Met-ALD Face Higher Rates of Serious Liver Complications
Hispanic adults with metabolic and alcohol-associated liver disease (Met-ALD) suffer from a greater frequency of serious liver-related complications compared with non-Hispanic patients, according to a new study led by Mohamed Eldesouki, M.D., an internal medicine resident in NYMC’s Internal Medicine Residency Program at St. Michael’s Medical Center in New Jersey, and published in Gastro Hep Advances.
