Fifth Annual Days of Giving Set for March 29 and 30
On March 29 and 30, 2022, NYMC will host the fifth annual “Days of Giving” fundraising campaign to raise money for student scholarships in the School of Medicine, the Graduate School of Basic Medical Sciences and the School of Health Sciences and Practice. You can support this important initiative by volunteering to be an NYMC Days of Giving Ambassador to help spread the word.

CDM Hosts Specialized CONTOMS Training for Tactical Medical Response
NYMC Center for Disaster Medicine (CDM) hosted the Counter Narcotics and Terrorism Operational Medical Support (CONTOMS) Medical Director’s Course on March 11. The eight-hour course was curated for physicians and others who work with pre-hospital personnel and tactical law enforcement teams to provide medical control. The course featured extensive presentations and participants got a close-up look at a Westchester County S.W.A.T. team training session. From Madrid to Valhalla to Paris, Christopher J. Pappas, M.S. ’06, Ph.D. ’11, Has a Global Perspective on Teaching and Research
Christopher J. Pappas, M.S. ’06, Ph.D. ’11, was studying abroad in Madrid, Spain, in 2001 when he fell in love with the country. However, he wanted to fulfill his penchant for research and teaching, so he decided to come back to the United States to earn his M.S. and Ph.D. After his time in Spain as an English teacher and as a researcher in France, Dr. Pappas makes it a point to bring a global perspective to his duties as a professor and mentor at Manhattanville College. Student Clubs Host “Stand With Ukraine” Humanitarian Drive
More than 20 student organizations are coming together to support Ukrainian citizens affected by the Russian military invasion. Supplies can be placed in donation bins placed in the Medical Education Center lobby, Doc’s Café, 19 Skyline Drive Lobby, the Nicholas and Liberta Testa Fitness Center and School of Health Sciences building lobby through March 17. Members of the NYMC community are encouraged to donate the following items:
- Unused medical supplies such as first aid kits, bandages, gauze and antiseptics.
- Unused, flight-safe sanitation products meant for COVID-19.
- Maternity and infant care supplies.
- Feminine hygiene supplies.
- Clothing, especially for cold weather.
- Sealed, non-perishable foods.
