NYMC and Regeneron Debut Neighborhood Science Seminar Series
Aarti Sharma, Ph.D., center, associate director of Motor Neuron Diseases at Regeneron, presented her research on understanding the mechanisms of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis with the goal of developing better treatments at the inaugural session of NYMC's and Regeneron's Neighborhood Science Seminar Series on March 20. The series was founded by Salomon Amar, D.D.S., Ph.D., right, vice president for research and professor of pharmacology and of pathology, microbiology and immunology at NYMC and senior vice president for research affairs at Touro University, and Brian Zambrowicz, Ph.D., left executive vice president, functional genomics and chief, VelociGene® operations at Regeneron.

Orthopedics Research Fellowship Yields Prolific Results for SOM Student
Andrew Grant, SOM Class of 2024, has built a prolific research portfolio in orthopedics through a fellowship at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, with three papers already accepted or published, 13 conference presentations, and four textbook chapters underway to date.

Padmini Murthy, M.D., M.P.H., M.S., FAMWA, FRSPH, right, professor of public health and director of global health, moderated two high level panels at the 68th United Nations (UN) Commission on the Status of Women on March 11 – 22. They were organized by the American Medical Women’s Association and Operation Smile. She also chaired a high level event organized by the Africana Women’s Working Group. The participants included First Lady of Bahamas H.E. Ann Marie Davis and Ambassador H.E. Sophia Tesfamariam Permanent Representative of Mission of Eritrea to the UN. Dr. Murthy is pictured with U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas Greenfield, whom she met at a private reception at the U.S. Mission to the UN.
