Stephen R. Hammes, M.D., Ph.D., will Present the 33rd Annual GSRF Keynote Address
Stephen R. Hammes, M.D., Ph.D., the Louis S. Wolk Distinguished Professor of Medicine, chief of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, and executive vice chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, will be the keynote speaker at the 33rd annual Graduate Student Research Forum on March 15. Lauren M. Lang, LCSW, brings extensive, diverse experience to the SMHW
Lauren M. Lang, LCSW, who has more than a decade of experience as a mental health professional, has joined NYMC Office of Student Mental Health and Wellness (SMHW) as a licensed clinical social worker. A New York native, she earned a master’s degree in social work at Adelphi University and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Social Work at Capella University. The Purchasing Office Secures the Needs of the NYMC Community
The NYMC Purchasing Office fills the essential role of supporting all purchasing and procurement needs of the College, while also liaising with vendors and assisting with contract management. The Office handles a wide variety of purchasing requests, all with the goal of helping NYMC faculty and staff fulfill their commitment to support the mission of the College. Maribel Giraldo, M.S., assistant director of procurement services, provided a closer look at the fast-paced environment of the Office.

George W. Contreras, M.E.P., M.P.H., M.S., CEM, FAcEM, assistant director of the Center for Disaster Medicine and assistant professor in the Institute of Public Health, was the invited keynote speaker for New York State Department of Health Bureau of Emergency Medical Services Continuing Medical Education Program on February 28. He presented “The Intersecting Worlds of Emergency Management and Emergency Medical Services,” to pre-hospital care providers from all over the state.

Ph.D. candidates in the laboratory of XiuMin, Li, M.D., M.S., professor of pathology, microbiology and immunology, presented at the 2022 American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona, that took place from February 24-28. Anish R. Maskey, left, who received a Ph.D. travel scholarship presented a poster, “IgE Independent Induction of EoE by Airborne Antigens via Up-regulation of Th2 responses.” Ibrahim Musa, gave an oral abstract presentation, “Arctigenin Isolated from Arctium lappa which Suppresses IgE Production, Inhibits the Gene Expression of Telomere and Telomerase in Human B Cell Line.”
