Class of 2026 Commencement Ceremony Marks New Chapter 


On May 18, NYMC celebrated the achievements of the Class of 2026 at Commencement ceremonies at the Westchester County Center. After years of hard work in the classroom, breakthroughs in research labs, lessons in clinical settings, and service to the community, graduates proudly crossed the stage to receive their degrees surrounded by family, friends, faculty, and administration.

NYMC and WMC Host 16th Annual Paul Woolf, M.D., Pediatrics Trainee Research Day


The 16th Annual Paul Woolf, M.D., Pediatrics Trainee Research Day on May 13, was an occasion to spotlight the outstanding pediatrics research underway. Hosted by the Department of Pediatrics at NYMC and Westchester Medical Center (WMC), as well as Boston Children’s Health Physicians (BCHP), the day featured both oral and poster presentations. Left to right: Mary Kirstyleigh Ann Lim, M.D., neonatal fellow and best abstract awardee clinical research; Sydney Brannen, M.D., pediatrics resident and best abstract awardee clinical research; Gulam Mohammed, M.D., pediatrics hematology-oncology-BMT fellow and best abstract awardee basic research; Sankaran Krishnan, M.D., professor of pediatrics and chief of pediatric pulmonary, allergy and immunology; Hao Yu, M.D.-Ph.D. student and best abstract awardee basic research; Mitchell S. Marking 25 Years of Excellence in Obstetrics and Gynecology Research

 

On May 7, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at NYMC, Westchester Medical Center Health Network, and NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan celebrated its 25th Annual OBGYN Research Day. The event featured keynote speaker Brian T. Nguyen, M.D., M.S.C.P., along with poster presentations from medical students and oral presentations from residents. Dr. Nguyen presented “EMERGE: Expanding Male Engagement in Reproductive and Gender Equity.”

NYMC Reunion 2026 Unites Alumni, Graduates, and Campus Community


Alumni, students, and institutional leaders filled the Valhalla campus with celebration and connection as NYMC Reunion 2026 took place alongside the graduate barbecue, honoring the newest graduating class alongside Reunion-year cohorts ending in one and six, with special recognition of the Classes of 1976 and 2001 for their golden and silver anniversaries on May 17.

The day unfolded across campus landmarks, where guests toured the Medical Education Center, the Clinical Skills and Simulation Center, and the Center for Disaster Medicine at 7 Dana Road. Adding a historical highlight, attendees also viewed a rare first edition of Andreas Vesalius’ 1543 The Renaissance of Anatomy, The Anatomy of The Renaissance, linking centuries of medical learning to the present celebration.

TCDM Celebrates Class of 2028 White Coat Ceremony

 

TCDM celebrated the Class of 2028 White Coat Ceremony with immense pride, distributing 218 white coats to rising third-year dental students. The donning of the white coat symbolizes a student’s unwavering commitment and dedication to dentistry. This momentous event marks the Class of 2028’s transition into the clinical setting for their final two years as dental care providers. Half of this distinguished group will be welcomed into Touro Dental Health patient clinic in New York, while the other half will provide oral health care at TCDM’s facility in New Mexico. They will embark on a journey to deliver exceptional healthcare services at Touro Dental Health patient clinics, serving diverse communities with unwavering integrity, compassion, and empathy.

OFF CAMPUS, ON CRAFT

John Phillips, M.D., Makes Waves in Medicine and on the Water

 

Before John Phillips, M.D., chair and professor of the Department of Urology, joined NYMC, he competitively rowed—a passion he has sustained for decades. Earlier this year, he finished 11th in the 2026 World Rowing Virtual Indoor Championship’s 5,000m heat race.

ACCOLADES

Alan Kadish, M.D., right, NYMC and TU president, and Fawaz Al-Mufti, M.D., left, associate chair of research, neurology, and professor of neurology, neurosurgery, and radiology, were honored as 2026 Healthcare Heroes by Westchester Magazine at a luncheon on May 14, at Mulino’s at Lake Isle in Eastchester, New York. 



NYMC was ranked second in Cure’s “Punching Above Their Weight” ranking, outperforming expectations relative to its funding levels—demonstrating that translational success is driven not only by resources, but by strategy, culture, and execution. Overall, the College placed 120th among universities in the Cure Innovation Index, with rankings of 92nd in research capabilities, 116th in entrepreneurial readiness, and 136th in market transition. Cure is a New York City–based health care innovation ecosystem with a mission to accelerate cures by helping health innovators advance groundbreaking products and services from concept to commercialization.
