School of Medicine Class of 2026 Celebrates Friendsgiving
On November 17, the SOM Class of 2026 celebrated Friendsgiving, a hallmark of the NYMC community. The annual event brings first-year medical students and faculty together to give thanks and celebrate the end of the first block of classes. As the first class to experience NYMC’s new medical school curriculum, the Class of 2026 has already encountered a variety of faculty, and Friendsgiving offered an opportunity for everyone to get to know each other better outside of the classroom and inspire unity and friendship. Padmini Murthy, M.D., M.P.H., M.S., M.Phil., CHES, professor of public health and global health director, was appointed chair-elect of the American Public Health Association (APHA) Intersectional Council at the APHA 2022 Annual Meeting and Expo and 150th anniversary celebration in Boston on November 6 – 9. The Intersectional Council represents the interests common to the APHA sections and facilitates relations between and among them and with other groups within APHA.
