Bench-to-Bedside Seminar Series: Translational Inhalation Drug Delivery – Development of Inhaled Biologics


Salomon Amar, Ph.D., D.D.S., vice president of research and professor of pharmacology and of pathology, microbiology and immunology, welcomed keynote speaker Philip Kuehl, Ph.D., right, director of Scientific Core Laboratories at Lovelace Biomedical, to the Bench-to-Bedside Series on September 27. Dr. Kuehl highlighted critical elements of inhalation drug delivery as programs progress from early pharmacology to IND-enabling studies. His presentation covered the delivery systems used, optimal study designs and key endpoints. View the video.

ACCOLADES

Padmini Murthy, M.D., M.P.H., M.S., FAMWA, FRSPH, center, professor of health policy and management in the Department of Public Health and director of global health, was a participant in three high-level meetings during the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (GA) in New York City, September 19 – 26, representing NYMC and the American Medical Women's Association. During the Pandemic Prevention Preparedness and Response meeting, the GA adopted the Landmark Declaration and called for strengthening high-level international coordination to improve pandemic prevention, preparedness and response; a meeting was convened on universal health coverage; and one meeting focused on the fight against tuberculosis (TB) and resulted in the Historic Political Declaration on TB adopted by member states. Dr. Murthy also had discussions on various global health issues with health ministers from Slovakis, Bhutan and Republic of Zambia. Dr. Murthy is pictured with Satoshi Ezoe, M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H., M.P.A., right, director of the Global Health Strategy Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan, and Jozef Suvada, M.D., global health ambassador of Slovakia and executive board member of the World Health Organization.

25th Annual Race for Rehab

Proceeds from the race hosted by D.P.T. students will benefit Achilles International, a not-for-profit organization that provides a community of support to athletes with disabilities, using sports as a tool to offer hope, inspiration and the joy of achievement.


Bib numbers and Race for Rehab shirts will be available for pickup one hour before the start of the race at the registration table in the MEC lobby.
