New Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program Established
The SOM continues to expand its NYMC-sponsored graduate medical education program with the introduction of a new residency program in obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) at St. Mary’s General Hospital and Saint Clare’s Health. Located in Northern New Jersey, the ACGME-accredited OB/GYN Residency Program offers a community-based training experience with a strong academic foundation that allows residents to gain hands-on experience in core areas, including maternal-fetal medicine, reproductive endocrinology, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology, and family planning, with an emphasis on advanced techniques and technologies in gynecologic surgery. “We are excited to launch this new OB/GYN residency program, which combines rigorous clinical training with a strong foundation in compassionate patient care and academic excellence,” says Adam Shoman, M.D., OB/GYN residency program director. “Our new NYMC residents will have the opportunity to care for a diverse patient population and gain experience in everything from routine obstetrics to complex, high-risk cases and advanced surgical procedures. The goal is to graduate physicians who are not only highly skilled but also confident, compassionate, and ready to meet the evolving needs of women’s health.”
