Donate Life Club Hosts Blood Drive with Highest Turnout in Four Years | NYMC's Donate Life Club saw an impressive turnout at the first blood drive of the academic year on October 14, with the highest amount of donations since 2017. Dozens of students filed into the Willner Atrium Lobby in the Medical Education Center to donate blood, doubling the total of the last drive during a time of great need. The SOM Anesthesia Interest Group was recognized with the 2020-2021 Outstanding Anesthesia Interest Group Award in the Most Innovative AIG category by the American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA) Medical Student Component during the ASA Medical Student Component House of Delegates on October 10 in San Diego, California. Padmini Murthy, M.D., M.P.H., M.S., M.Phil., CHES, professor of public health and global health director, and Amy Ansehl, M.S.N., D.N.P., FNP-BC, associate dean for student experience and associate professor of public health, presented “Addressing Poverty by Promoting Health and Well Being,” at a virtual international conference, “Breaking the Cycle of Poverty: Challenges and Way Forward. The conference, presented by Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, the designated United Nations Academic Impact Hub for the Sustainable Development Goal 1, no poverty, commemorated the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty on October 17 and was attended by more than 650 participants. | | |
