Social Media Ambassadors Share NYMC Experience

The social media ambassador program at NYMC gives students the opportunity to chronicle their experiences and share their unique perspectives. Last year, social ambassadors accounted for 90 posts and more than 1,000 likes on Instagram alone. Meet the students who will be posting about their activities throughout the academic year.

NYMC Hosts 2021 Club Fair with Record Number of Approved Clubs

NYMC students looking to get involved on campus attended the 2021 Club Fair on September 14. Spread throughout the lobbies of the Medical Education Center and the Basic Sciences Building, the cafeteria and the MEC plaza, the fair featured 75 club tables. With 90 approved student clubs present, this year marks the highest number of clubs in NYMC history. Students were eager to participate in person, as the fair was virtual last year, and got to learn about the various student organizations at NYMC. Martin Katzenstein, M.D. '78, is Appointed Assistant Dean for Clinical Affiliations

Martin Katzenstein, M.D. '78, associate professor of pediatrics, has been appointed as assistant dean for clinical affiliations for the SOM. In this new role, Dr. Katzenstein will assist with the development of new and established medical student clinical affiliate site rotations at the varied hospitals and ambulatory centers, physician practices and outpatient preceptor sites. Hospitalist Alice Cha, M.D. '13, Balances Patient Care with Her Passion for Educating Aspiring Young Medical Professionals

Alice Cha, M.D. '13, is an inpatient physician at Stanford ValleyCare Hospital in Pleasanton, California -- recognized for its response and handling of the initial COVID-19 outbreak -- as well as a clinical assistant professor of medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Cha dedicates her career to not only helping others as a physician but teaching and guiding health professionals of the future, whether developing a summer program for high school students interested in health care or teaching medical students. The Founder's Dinner is our signature, annual fundraising event where academic, health care, business and community leaders, come together to celebrate NYMC's proud history and promising future and to honor distinguished community leaders for their impactful and transformative achievements. Funds raised from the 2021 Founder's Dinner will contribute to our success in educating the next generation of physicians and health care providers, and conducting life-saving biomedical research.

The Seasonal Flu Vaccine is Now Available at NYMC

The Family Health Center has the regular vaccine dose and the high dose for seniors. Faculty and staff can contact the Family Health Center at (914) 828-0435 to make an appointment, although walk-ins are welcome. Students can contact Health Services at (914) 594-4234 to schedule an appointment.

Doc's Cafe will re-open on Monday, October 4. The hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
