CPDA Attends the Bipartisan Inaugural Ball

CPDA leadership had a memorable week in Washington DC for the 2025 Presidential Inauguration. They were thrilled to participate in the Bipartisan Inaugural Ball Celebrating American Agriculture, where they enjoyed an evening with industry friends, Congressional allies and incoming Trump Administration leaders.

Highlights from the evening included remarks from Ranking Member Angie Craig, President Trump's USDA Secretary Nominee Brooke Rollins and especially Chairman Thompson's message of unity and collaboration to Make Agriculture Great Again. It was a great opportunity for CPDA to network and build relationships with key stakeholders in the agricultural industry. Overall, it was a successful and inspiring experience for CPDA leadership.

CPDA Attends Confirmation Hearing for Lee Zeldin

President Trump has nominated former New York Congressman Lee Zeldin to be the next Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Last week, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee (EPW) held a confirmation hearing for Zeldin, which was attended by Andrew Walmsley, CPDA’s Vice President of Government Relations.

During the hearing, Senator John Boozman, Chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee, and member of the Senate EPW committee, stressed the importance of having a predictable, risk and science based regulatory system that ensures farmers have access to important crop protection tools.

The letter expressed strong support for Brooke Rollins as USDA Secretary ahead of her confirmation hearing, scheduled for January 23.

EPA’s “MyPest” App

CPDA along with many of our member companies participated in a rollout webinar on Thursday, January 16th, where EPA unveiled its new MyPest App. This new program will allow registrants to track the status of their pesticide registration submissions. CPDA has long advocated for greater transparency regarding submission completion dates to better facilitate registrant planning. The new system is designed to provide that transparency by allowing registrants to see the status of their pending actions in real time. EPA hopes that by next month, the system will be updated to include projected completion dates for most actions. Additional system functionality is planned for March.

To register for the new program, registrants need to log-in and set up a company administrator by going to:  https://oppt.my.site.com/mypestapp/s/. EPA recommends setting up more than one company administrator.

Special thanks to CPDA representatives Jayne Walz of Helena and Jeremy Malone of Spring Regulatory for serving on the Industry Work Group that helped develop this new program.

Endangered Species Act Webinar

CPDA is partnering with the Agricultural Retailers Association, CropLife America, the American Society of Agronomists, the Crop Science Society of America, and the Soil Science Society of America on a series of educational webinars on EPA’s ESA strategies for herbicide and insecticide use.

More and more pesticide labels will contain language requiring applicators to follow a myriad and sometimes confusing set of label directions to protect threatened and endangered species. These new requirements represent the greatest change in how pesticides are used and applied since the enactment of the modern Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act in 1972. CPDA’s collaboration with our industry partners is designed to help growers and crop advisors to navigate these significant changes and to highlight the role of Drift Reduction Adjuvants as a grower’s “Easy Button” to reduce or eliminate risks to listed species.

The first webinar will discuss EPA’s ESA strategies for herbicide and insecticide use so attendees will have a clear understanding of the new guidelines while learning actionable steps to ensure compliance.
